Alex and Ruth are eX mates

X FACTOR winner ALEXANDRA BURKE and best pal RUTH LORENZO had to be pulled apart during a screaming match on the show’s live tour in Sheffield.

That’s one battle of the divas that must have shaken the foundations of the city’s old steel factories.

The singing chums have been inseparable since they starred on the hit show last year and share a flat together.

But, as with the pressure on Ruth’s bra, something had to give.

Now the days of sun-soaked, laughter-packed holidays and cheery nights in front of the telly in their West London home are over.

And, if Ruth’s to be believed, it’s all down to a row last week over a male dancer they both fancied on the X Factor Tour.

I’m not so sure though. Straight dancers on a pop tour?

A source said: “Alex and Ruth are big characters and the fireworks were spectacular when they finally went off.

“Ruth claims they fell out because she pulled a dancer Alex had her eye on. She reckons Alex bullied her but the old green-eyed monster has been creeping in.

“Meanwhile Alex feels she is being singled out by Ruth and the others on tour because of her success.

“She insists she was never after any dancer — she doesn’t think that would be very cool. She thinks Ruth is just using it as a excuse to pick on her.

“But either way their friendship is well and truly over. They can barely look at each other.

“Both have threatened to leave unless the other is booted off the tour.”

It’s pretty clear to me what’s going on here.

Ruth is struggling to handle Alex’s success. Alex is beginning to enjoy the trappings of her fame and Ruth is slipping towards z-list obscurity, which will boil inside her like a dodgy curry.

Alex is probably beginning to wonder why she was ever pals with the singing Spaniard.

Tears and tantrums were always on the cards with two fiery characters like them.

And moving in together in Fulham, then living in each other’s pockets for weeks on tour, was always going to cause some friction.

I went for dinner with both before the X Factor final and Ruth looked as if she might cry when her plate arrived with one less prawn cracker than Alex’s.

At least there weren’t any afters back then.
