AILING Jade Goody was granted her last wish yesterday when she was allowed home to be with her cherished little sons.Tearful husband Jack Tweed held her hand throughout the 1½-hour ambulance journey from hospital.
The cancer-stricken Big Brother TV star desperately wanted to die “at home surrounded by love — and having as many kisses and cuddles from the boys as she can get before she goes”.
Jade’s mother Jackiey arrived at the house in Upshire, Essex, with balloons bearing the word “Mum”.
She hoped Jade would be given them by sons Bobby, five, and Freddie, four.
Jackiey said: “The boys will be over the moon when they get home from school.”
The lads, who last saw Jade at the weekend when they were christened alongside her in the chapel of London’s Royal Marsden Hospital, were expected to see her providing she was well enough.
They are currently being cared for by dad Jeff Brazier. Jade, 27, was said to be “thrilled” at being discharged.
She was carried to the ambulance wearing multi-coloured pyjamas with a Love Heart sweet pattern.
Silence
But she looked frail and forlorn under a red hospital blanket that could not disguise her weight loss.
She could not manage her normal wave or smile. And her total silence was in stark contrast to her usual brashness.
She could barely open her failing eyes but clung to Jack’s hand as she gave him a loving glance.
A Royal Marsden nurse accompanied the pair in the ambulance to keep Jade as comfortable as possible.
After she was lifted into her home, two paramedics pushed a drip inside along with three bags of pain-killing drugs.
Three Macmillan cancer support nurses arrived soon afterwards. They will work shifts to ensure one of them is with Jade 24 hours a day until she dies.
Her spokesman Max Clifford said: “Home is where she wants to be.
“She is just hoping they can keep on top of the pain so she can get as good a quality of life as possible for however long she has left.
“She wants to spend the time with Jack and the boys and all those close to her.”
A £100 bouquet of flowers from Amy Winehouse was also taken into the house.
A pal of the singer, 25, said: “Amy has been very moved by Jade’s illness. She told Jade on a card she was thinking of her.”
Jade’s homecoming means Jack, 21, can stay with her much longer.
Until now he has had to leave her hospital bedside by 5pm to get home to Buckhurst Hill, Essex, before his 7pm curfew.
It was imposed after he was freed from jail, where he served time for assaulting a teenager.
Jack can now spend almost two hours more with Jade.
He has been told his curfew will be lifted when it becomes clear she has just hours to live.
