A pal who yesterday visited the pain-racked Big Brother star in hospital revealed grimly: “She is far too ill.”
Doting Jade, 27, whose last dying wish is to be baptised in church with Bobby, five, and Freddie, four, could barely open her eyes as she lay heavily sedated after an emergency bowel op to ease her agony.
Her spokesman Max Clifford confirmed: “If people go and see her it’s literally a case of her opening her eyes, saying, ‘Hi, how are you?’ and going back to sleep again.
Hoping
“It’s a result of the medication she’s on. So, of course, in those circumstances the christening can’t go ahead.”
Mr Clifford said there was still a chance the ceremony could take place in the chapel of London’s Royal Marsden cancer hospital.
But he stressed: “Jade really wants to be well enough to go home and be christened.
“If she starts to feel better the christening can be organised at very short notice. We’re hoping for the best.”
A church near Jade’s Essex home had been booked for the christening — set to feature in the same celebrity mag that forked out for exclusive rights to her wedding two weeks ago when she tied the knot with freed lag Jack Tweed, 21.
Jade, who has been given only weeks to live, is determined to raise as much as she can to leave to her boys — who were yesterday being cared for by their TV presenter dad Jeff Brazier.
She declared before her spreading cervical cancer forced her to undergo bowel surgery this week: “I want them to understand that mummy will be in heaven watching over them.
“It’s really important to me now that they learn about Jesus.”
A close friend said: “The christening was not just a cynical attempt to make some money for her boys.
“Jade genuinely wants to be baptised before she dies. She is still hopeful this can be done. But time is running out for her.”
The friend who visited her said the mum would be “devastated” if she is not reunited with her sons tomorrow — after not seeing them for almost a week.
Despite her grogginess Jade was said to be feeling “slightly better” yesterday as husband Jack spent hours at her bedside with his mum Mary.
He arrived with gifts of fresh undies from lingerie shop Intimo and an outfit from fashion chain Zara.
Jade was shattered when Jack was this week warned in court he faced a fresh jail stretch after a second conviction for assault.
He is out of prison on a night curfew at his mum’s home over the first attack — and must wear a tag.
On Tuesday officials lifted the curfew for one night — as they did for his wedding — so he could keep a vigil at Jade’s bedside.
But yesterday it was back in force — meaning he had to leave the hospital.
