MOVIE actress NATASHA RICHARDSON died last night — two days after suffering brain injuries in a skiing accident.
Her husband, Hollywood star LIAM NEESON, was “shocked and devastated”.
Natasha, the 45-year-old daughter of British screen legend VANESSA REDGRAVE, 72, and director TONY RICHARDSON, banged her head in a fall at a Canadian ski resort on Monday.
Schindler’s List star Liam, 56, had been at her bedside in...
...New York’s Lenox Hill Hospital, where she was flown in the hope neurosurgeons could save her.
But she died after being taken off life-support yesterday evening.
Mum Vanessa and Natasha’s sons, Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12, were also at the hospital.
Neeson’s publicist Alan Nierob said last night: “Liam, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha.
“They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone.”
Natasha fell during a private lesson at the Station Mont Tremblant resort in Quebec.
She initially told staff she felt fine but was taken to the bottom of the slope and told she should see a doctor.
Roles
An hour later she complained of an extreme headache and was rushed to hospital.
She had been on a beginners’ slope and it was not believed she was wearing a helmet.
Liam, who also starred in Star Wars hit The Phantom Menace, flew from the set of his latest film in Toronto to be with her.
Natasha was the sister of actress JOELY RICHARDSON, and the niece of LYNN REDGRAVE.
She was born in May 1963, and educated at St Paul’s Girls School in London. She trained at the city’s Central School of Speech and Drama.
Natasha married Liam in 1994 after the pair met while working on the film Nell.
Her extensive experience as a stage actress included a number of Shakespearean roles.
She played Ophelia in Hamlet and Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
In 1986 she won the London Drama Critics’ most promising newcomer award for her performance as Nina in The Seagull alongside her mother.
She also won a Tony award for best actress in a musical for her performance as Sally Bowles in SAM MENDES’ production of Cabaret on Broadway in 1998.
She featured in the 1998 film The Parent Trap as well as Maid In Manhattan with JENNIFER LOPEZ in 2002.
