DISTRAUGHT Jade Goody begged to die when told her cancer was incurable — so her two sons could “get on with their lives”.The tragic star, given just weeks to live, implored medics to end her suffering for the sake of five-year-old Bobby and brother Freddie, four.
Recalling the terrible moment, she said: “I said to my doctors, ‘I just want to go now, just give me an injection or a tablet. Let me go and let my kids get on with their lives’.”
Jade, 27 — who wed sweetheart Jack Tweed amid emotional scenes on Sunday — said her first thought after receiving the devastating prognosis was to “just give up”.
She told how she sobbed for the sons she’d lose, crying: “God, why would you give me two lovely kids, only to take them away again?”
And she told OK! magazine: “I’d rather they remembered me as I was when I was well instead of watching me deteriorate in front of them. That would really upset me.”
Sobbing Jade, left bald after months of gruelling treatment, also revealed how she has been preparing for the task of telling her youngsters she is going to die.
She said she has been given a children’s book about bereavement called Badger's Parting Gifts to read to Bobby and Freddie.
The book, by author Susan Varley, tells how a group of animal friends learn to cope with the death of a wise old badger by remembering how he touched their lives.
Jade said the book explained about heaven and where people go.
She added that doctors would tell her when the heartbreaking time had come when she had to say a tearful last goodbye to her kids.
Touching
Despite her illness, the Big Brother favourite is determined to keep busy — and plans to have both boys christened next week.
Her revelations came as further touching details emerged of her weekend wedding to 21-year-old Jack at an Essex country hotel.
Jade declared the ceremony “the happiest day of my life” and added: “I’m ready to go to heaven.”
She and elated Jack spent their first — and possibly only — night together as man and wife with a nurse INSIDE their wedding suite, watching carefully over the bride.
Jade was pumped full of powerful painkilling drugs to get her through the day as she bravely walked unaided down the aisle.
The happy couple repeated moving words chosen by Bishop Jonathan Blake before Jack slipped a sparkling Tiffany ring on Jade’s finger and whispered: “I love you.”
Jade gave Jack a diamond-encrusted band and told him: “You’re clumsy and funny but I love you and I want to marry you.”
The Bishop then invited the bride and groom to light a candle on each anniversary — with Jack promising he would do so on Earth and Jade vowing to continue in heaven.
Late in the evening the couple’s first dance was to Aerosmith’s ballad I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.
The wedding gripped the nation and may be one of the last times Jade is seen outside her home in Upshire, Essex, where she is being cared for by her mum Jackiey Budden, 50, and a team of Macmillan nurses.
Her hospital bed has now been transferred into the dining room so there is enough space for vital medical equipment.
Meanwhile part-time model Jack told OK! he was prepared to break the terms of his prison tag to be beside his cancer-stricken wife if her condition deteriorates.
He insisted NOTHING will stop him being with his new missus in her final moments — even if it means being sent back to prison.
Jack was sent to jail for 18 months after assaulting a teenager with a golf club.
He was released last month on condition that he returned to his family home at 7pm each evening and wore a tag.
The Ministry of Justice allowed his curfew to be temporarily lifted on the couple’s wedding day so the newlyweds could spend the night together in what they ruled was an “exceptional” case.
But for the next three months Jack will have to return to his parents’ house every evening.
However, he and Jade confirmed they have applied for a suspended tag from the Ministry — enabling Jack to ditch the monitoring equipment until after Jade’s death.
Vowed
Anguished Jack said he wanted to be with his terminally-ill wife “every second of the day” in case something happens.
He said leaving Jade for his family home in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, was “killing” him and that he never wanted to be apart from her.
And he insisted the prospect of being sent back to prison for breaching the terms of his release “did not bother him”.
Jack also spoke of his horror after Jade — who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last summer — was told the cruel disease had spread to other parts of her body.
And he expressed his dismay at watching her deteriorate as the illness took an irreversible grip.
Jack admitted he “could not think” of a life without Jade and that the thought of losing her made him “break down and cry”.
He said that he wanted to make her as happy as possible in the time she has left.
Rights to Sunday’s fairytale wedding were sold for £750,000. Jade has vowed to make as much money as possible to safeguard the future of her young sons.
The star was left totally drained by the wedding.
But, summoning up her famous feisty attitude, she still found the energy to tick off her new hubby for his behaviour.
She sternly reprimanded Jack for his “inappropriate mooning” in recent days. He and a close friend cheekily pulled down their trousers and displayed their bottoms to photographers just two days before the wedding.
Jade said: “I was so embarrassed when I saw those pictures.
“There I was lying in hospital ill and he was out there flashing his bum with his mates at the tailors.
“It was ridiculous — he’s 21.”
