Jade and Jack tie the knot

DYING star Jade Goody braved pain and exhaustion to marry fiancee Jack Tweed today.

The bride managed to stand for most of the 45-minute service but asked for a chair so she could rest during the final five minutes.

He also revealed she had slipped her shoes off during the ceremony because her feet were hurting.

-It was just a very heart-rending, happy ceremony with lots of tears and lots of smiles and lots of laughter,- her publicist Max Clifford said.

-When they came out having signed the register they got a standing ovation from everybody there.-

The couple planned the wedding in only nine days. Jack proposed on February 13 at Jade’s hospital bedside after doctors said she had just weeks to live because cervical cancer had spread to her liver and bowel.

Ivory

The new Mrs Tweed wore an ivory dress, a present from Harrods owner Mohammed al Fayed.

Her sons Bobby, five, and Freddie, four, carried her train, Mr Clifford said.

Wedding guests included Crimewatch presenter Nick Ross and Blue singer Antony Costa while TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan arrived for the reception.

The newlyweds will spend tonight at the Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hatfield Heath, Essex, where the ceremony took place.

The groom would have been forced to leave the reception early but on Friday the Ministry of Justice agreed to relax bail conditions which ordered him to return to his mother’s house in Essex by 7pm every day.

Mr Clifford said the newlyweds were �thrilled� they could spend what might be �their only night together�.

‘ It was just a very beautiful, very moving service ... the couple are obviously very much in love. ’

�This is their one night together. It might be their only night together,� he said.

�They’ll be spending the night together here, compliments of Jack Straw. We’re very grateful to him for that.

-I know that both Jade and Jack are thrilled that they can spend the one night together. Then probably she’ll go home at some point tomorrow.-

The groom was jailed for 18 months last September after assaulting a teenager with a golf club and was released from prison last month on the condition he stuck to the curfew and wore a tag.

The tag was visible this morning when he left his mother’s house wearing women’s underwear and a pair of white socks.

Jade flew to the hotel by helicopter from her home in Upshire, Essex, last night to prepare for her big day.

There were fears the wedding would not go ahead when she felt -unwell- last night.

Mr Clifford said the ceremony went to plan although Jade kept Jack waiting for about 45 minutes.

-That’s her prerogative I’m told,- he added.

He described the ceremony as -lovely-.

-The chapel was absolutely beautiful and I imagine there must be close to 200 people there.

-It was just a very beautiful, very moving service. (The couple are) obviously very much in love, which the bishop commented on. They were very happy to be there and get married.

-I think it’s a huge relief that she was able to handle it the way she did, because obviously it’s been a worry to her.

Ten white doves were released during the ceremony and were seen flying above the hotel.

Mr Clifford said the bride has an outpatient appointment for a check-up at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital on Wednesday.

After that she will arrange a Christening for her sons as soon as possible.

Mr Clifford said: -Her words to me were ’I want them to try to get to know Jesus because if they get to know Jesus, hopefully they’ll be able to keep in touch in the future’.

Two sisters whose grandfather died from cancer delivered hand-written cards to the hotel today.

Alicia Johnson, eight and her sister Mollie, 11, from Loughton, Essex, travelled to the hotel with their mother Lyn, 40.

-It’s just awful and very sad, -said Ms Johnson.

-We lost my dad Tony two years ago to cancer when he was 62.

-We know a little bit about what Jade is going through.
